About Us


Fair Business Alliance was created in 2009 by -  Juan Andres Santelices, a Forest Engineer and entrepreneur with extensive experience of supporting international development through ethical, fair and sustainable trade. In 2011 Fair Business Alliance changed to Fair Business Alliance Ltd.

Keen to make a positive difference to peoples’ lives, Juan Andres saw an opportunity to apply his 15 years experience and skills in international development and sustainable trade to support small businesses in developing countries. He speaks English, German, Spanish and Portuguese.

Since 1995, Juan Andres Santelices has built up experience working with third, second and primary level producer organisations, cooperatives, associations, small forest enterprises, fishers communities, certification bodies, governmental institutions, NGO’s, ethical financial institutions, importers, distributors and wholesalers. He is committed to supporting trade to help eradicate poverty and bring social justice to disadvantaged communities, while respecting and protecting the environment.

He has also provided capacity training to producers and communities in more than 10 countries from Latin America, Asia and the South Pacific Islands and has extensive experience in opening markets and supplying products to the European market.

Working in partnership with partners across the world including; -Agro Up, Organic Andes, Fair Trade Scotland, Amazon Brazil Nuts Group, Alianza Amazonica & Fapecafes. At the end of 2014, Fair Business Alliance Ltd agreed with Pacari Chocolate in Ecuador, to be their sole representative in the UK & Ireland. More can be found at

Juan Andres Santelices has set up Fair Business Alliance Ltd which is committed to supporting producer organisations across Latin America. It aims to help them to build up their market share and forge links with organisations across Europe, North America, Asia and Oceania who want ethically sourced and fairly traded products.

Our Mission: Our mission is to create new durable and sustainable business opportunities for small and medium farmers, producers and companies from developing countries in Latin America in order to improve their livelihoods, their communities and their environment.

Our Values: Fair Business Alliance Ltd is founded on key fundamental core values which strive for fair, transparent and honest business practices at all times. We strongly believe in sustainable development and poverty alleviation through fair trade and only work with partners who share these values.

Our Commitments & Aims: Fair Business Alliance (FBA) Ltd is committed to (or aims to):

  • ·         create new opportunities and improve the livelihoods of farmers and producers in Latin America by enabling them to become part of a fair and ethical supply chain.
  • ·         support small producer groups to develop and market their products to reach buyers in the developed world
  • ·         develop alliances with organisations across Europe, North America, Asia and Oceania who are looking to support international development and want ethically sourced and fairly traded products
  • ·         reduce our impact on climate change and take the necessary steps to ensure that all our operations in the UK are carbon neutral by 2016
  • ·         reinvest its profits for the business and communities we work with and is not driven by the need to maximise profit for shareholders or owners
  • ·         promote a fair and friendly working environment


Fair Business Alliance has decide to promote Plan Vivo Systems for carbon management and offsetting initiatives, and has chosen Plan Vivo Projects as the way to offset its emissions. By doing so Fair Business Alliance won't only neutralise its carbon emissions, but contribute to improving the livelihoods of all rural communities and families involved in Plan Vivo Projects.
